Ingredients

Scale

Donut Batter

  • 1/4 cup melted regular or vegan butter
  • 1 1/4 cup regular milk, oat milk, or almond milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cup regular or gluten free all purpose flour
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

Glaze (Optional)

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp regular milk, oat milk, or almond milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the donuts evenly.
  2. Prepare the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted vegan or regular butter, your choice of almond, oat, or regular milk, baking soda, baking powder, sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until everything is well mixed.
  3. Add Flour and Mix: Gradually add the all-purpose flour (regular or gluten free) into the wet ingredients and mix gently until just combined to avoid over-developing the batter.
  4. Fold in Blueberries: Gently fold in the fresh or frozen blueberries to the batter, taking care not to break them too much to keep bursts of blueberry flavor intact.
  5. Fill Donut Molds: Grease your donut molds and carefully spoon the batter into each mold, filling them about three-quarters full to allow room for rising.
  6. Bake the Donuts: Place the molds in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Prepare the Glaze (Optional): While donuts are baking or cooling, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth. Drizzle this glaze over cooled donuts for added sweetness.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the donuts to cool in the molds for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Once completely cool, add glaze if desired and enjoy!

Notes

  • Do not overfill the donut molds to prevent overflow during baking.
  • Use fresh or frozen blueberries based on availability; frozen blueberries should be thawed and drained for best results.
  • Glaze is optional and not included in nutritional information.
  • For a dairy-free option, use vegan butter and plant-based milk alternatives.
  • Ensure blueberries are folded gently to maintain their shape and prevent color bleed in batter.
