Blueberry Swirl Yogurt is a refreshing and healthy frozen treat made by combining creamy Greek yogurt with a vibrant blueberry compote. This easy-to-make recipe captures the natural sweetness of blueberries and honey, swirled beautifully into the yogurt and then frozen into bite-sized delights. Perfect for a nutritious snack or dessert, it offers a delightful balance of tart and sweet flavors with a creamy texture.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Blueberry Compote

  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (optional)
  • 1 tsp water (to dissolve cornstarch)

For the Yogurt Base

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Additional honey or maple syrup, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Blueberry Compote: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine blueberries, honey (or maple syrup), and lemon juice. Simmer for about 5 minutes until the blueberries soften and release their juices.
  2. Thicken the Compote (Optional): If using cornstarch, dissolve it in 1 teaspoon of water. Stir this mixture into the blueberry compote to thicken it slightly. Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the compote to cool completely.
  3. Mix Yogurt Base: In a separate bowl, mix the Greek yogurt with the vanilla extract until smooth. Taste and add additional honey or maple syrup if a sweeter flavor is desired.
  4. Fill Molds: Spoon the yogurt mixture into silicone molds or mini muffin tins, filling each about three-quarters full.
  5. Add Blueberry Swirls: Place a spoonful of the cooled blueberry compote on top of each yogurt portion. Using a toothpick or skewer, gently swirl the compote into the yogurt to create a marbled effect.
  6. Freeze: Freeze the filled molds for at least 3 hours or until fully solidified.
  7. Serve: Remove the frozen yogurt bites from the molds. Store them in an airtight container in the freezer. Before eating, let them sit at room temperature for 2–3 minutes to soften slightly for the best texture.

Notes

  • The cornstarch is optional but helps achieve a thicker compote for better swirls and texture.
  • You can substitute maple syrup for honey to make the recipe vegan-friendly using a plant-based yogurt.
  • Use silicone molds or mini muffin tins lined with paper cups for easy removal of frozen yogurt bites.
  • Adjust sweetness according to your preference by varying the amount of honey or syrup in both the compote and yogurt mixture.
  • These frozen yogurt bites make for a convenient, healthy snack that can be stored in the freezer for up to 1 month.
