Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 2 cups egg noodles (uncooked)

Beef Mixture

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 23 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian spices
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook Noodles: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook Beef and Onion: Place the ground beef and chopped onion in a large pan over high heat. Break up the meat using a spatula and cook for about 10 minutes until the beef is browned and the onions are softened. Retain some of the fat rendered in the pan for flavor.
  3. Add Garlic and Spices: Reduce the heat to low. Add the minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and Italian spices to the pan. Stir well and cook for about 1 minute to let the flavors meld.
  4. Add Flour: Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir continuously. Cook for 2 minutes to cook out the raw taste of the flour and to form a roux base for thickening.
  5. Add Beef Stock: Slowly pour in the beef stock while stirring to avoid lumps. Continue cooking and stirring for 5 to 10 minutes until the sauce thickens to a gravy-like consistency. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a little more beef stock to reach desired consistency.
  6. Combine Ingredients: Stir the cooked egg noodles into the beef gravy mixture. Taste and season with salt and pepper accordingly. Serve immediately while hot for a comforting meal.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease but retain flavor.
  • Worcestershire sauce adds depth and umami to the dish.
  • Italian spices can be a blend of dried basil, oregano, thyme, and rosemary.
  • If preferred, substitute beef stock with broth or bouillon for convenience.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently on stovetop.
