Dough
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
Filling
- 2 cups diced peaches (fresh or canned)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Frosting
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Prepare the Dough: Dissolve the active dry yeast in the warm milk along with a pinch of sugar. Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy. In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, and flour. Add in the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface until it is smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, approximately 1 hour.
- Make the Filling: In a small bowl, combine the diced peaches with brown sugar and ground cinnamon, mixing until the peaches are evenly coated with the sweet and spicy mixture.
- Assemble Rolls: Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a large rectangular shape on a floured surface. Evenly spread the peach filling over the dough. Carefully roll the dough tightly from one end to the other. Using a sharp knife, cut the rolled dough into 12 equal slices. Arrange the slices in a greased baking dish with a bit of space between each. Cover and let the rolls rise again for 30 minutes to become fluffy.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the peach cobbler cinnamon rolls for about 25 minutes or until the tops turn golden brown and the pastry is cooked through.
- Prepare Frosting: While the rolls bake, beat together the softened cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
- Finish: Once the rolls are out of the oven, allow them to cool slightly for 5-10 minutes before drizzling the cream cheese frosting over the warm rolls. Serve immediately and enjoy the gooey, flavorful goodness.
Notes
- You can use fresh peaches when in season or canned peaches drained well for convenience.
- For a stronger peach flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of peach extract to the filling.
- Make sure the milk is not too hot when activating the yeast to avoid killing it; 110°F is optimal.
- If you prefer a sweeter roll, sprinkle extra brown sugar over the filling before rolling the dough.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
- Reheat gently in the microwave for a warm, fresh-baked taste.
